What this project covers
All Med Canada is being developed to improve access to clear information across everyday healthcare, including clinics, dental care, eye care, physiotherapy, chiropractic and pharmacy services.
Coverage for these does not work in simple categories. A person may be covered for one service and need to pay for another, and the rules differ by age, by circumstance and by the plan they hold. The descriptions below explain the areas the project intends to address.
They are not services offered through this website. This site does not list practices and there is nothing here to search or book.
Areas of everyday healthcare
Clinics
Walk-in and family clinics are where most everyday care starts. Some visits and services are publicly covered and some are not, and what a visit involves is not always clear before you arrive.
Dental care
Dental care is an important part of everyday health, but coverage can vary significantly between public programmes, workplace benefits and private plans. The project aims to make this easier to understand.
Eye care
Eye care coverage can depend on age, medical circumstances and private benefits. Clear information helps people understand what may be covered and what they may need to arrange themselves.
Chiropractic
Chiropractic care sits outside public coverage in Ontario, though many people have an allowance through a workplace plan, a student plan or an insurance claim without realising it.
Physiotherapy
Some physiotherapy is publicly funded in defined circumstances and at defined locations, and some is arranged privately or through a benefits plan. Telling them apart is genuinely difficult.
Pharmacy services
What you pay at a pharmacy counter is made up of several separate things, and pharmacists can assess and prescribe for a range of common conditions. Both are worth understanding.
This website is not a directory
All Med Canada is a project in development. This website explains the project. It is not a place to search for a practice, compare prices or book an appointment, and it does not list healthcare providers.
If you need care today, contact a practice directly, or call Health Connect Ontario. In an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department.
